We’ve compiled answers to our most frequently asked questions below. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out via our chat support or email us at hello@smugllama.com

We’re interested in real-life stories that resonate — from personal journeys and adventures to wildlife, political issues, and other compelling subjects. We are open to taking on documentary projects, provided the concept is well-developed and the project is viable for production.

Yes — there are many issues that could benefit from wider awareness through film. For example, climate change and its impact on local communities, underrepresented voices in politics or social justice, mental health challenges, and endangered wildlife conservation. Documentaries have the power to shine a light on these topics, spark conversations, and inspire action.

A story becomes emotional, surprising, or memorable when it connects on a human level — showing real struggles, triumphs, or moments of vulnerability. Unexpected twists, authentic characters, and vivid details that reveal a unique perspective also make a story stick in your mind long after you’ve experienced it.

Yes — collaborating directly with the people or communities at the heart of a story is essential for authenticity. This could include local artists, activists, indigenous groups, or anyone whose experiences and perspectives bring depth and truth to the narrative. Working closely ensures the story is told with respect and genuine insight.

We would love to see wildlife and nature stories that reveal hidden behaviors, rare species, or unique ecosystems. Documentaries that explore the delicate balance of the environment, conservation efforts, and human impact on nature are especially compelling, as they educate and inspire audiences to care about the world around them.
